  Introduction of Mandi District  Mandi district is one of the 12 districts of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh in northern India. District headquarters are located at Mandi city. Mandi city was earlier known as Mandava Nagar. The city has its own mythological and historical significance which reflects in its unique architecture. It is known as "Chhoti Kashi" because the city has many ancient temples on the banks of the river Beas. Mandi district was formed on 15 April 1948 by merging the two princely states Mandi and Suket State.
