Nainital district is a district in the state of Uttarakhand, India. The district headquarters is located at Nainital city. It is a popular hill station in India. It comes under the Kumaon division. Haldwani is the largest city in the Nainital district. Nainital is the judicial capital of Uttarakhand. The High Court and Raj Bhavan of Uttarakhand are situated in Nainital city. 


Nainital is at a distance of 345 km from India's capital New Delhi and 285 km from the state capital Dehradun. Nainital is situated at an altitude of 2,084 meters above sea level. Nainital city is also known as "The Lake District Of India". Naini lake is the most prominent among the lakes.
