Uttarkashi district is a district of Garhwal division of Uttarakhand state in North India. The headquarters of the district is located in the city of Uttarkashi. Uttarkashi means Kashi of the north. Uttarkashi district is located in the border of the High Himalayas. Uttarkashi district is the source of both Gangotri and Yamunotri rivers, which attract thousands of pilgrims.
