Chamba district is the northwestern district of Himachal Pradesh in India, headquartered in the city of Chamba. The Chamba district shares its borders with Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Lahaul, Bara-Bangal, Kangra and Gurdaspur in Punjab.




Population in Chamba District

According to the 2011 census, Chamba district had a population of 5,18,844. Chamba district has a sex ratio of 989 females for every 1000 males, and a literacy rate of 73%. The two main languages ??of this district are Chambiali and Gaddi language.

Administrative Division of Chamba District

It comes under the Chamba division. The district is divided into 7 tehsils, Chamba, Chauraha, Saluni, Dalhousie, Bhatiyat, Sihunta, Bhalai, Brahmaur, Pangi and Holi. Chamba falls under the Kangra Lok Sabha constituencies. Churah, Bharmour, Chamba, Dalhousie, Bhatiat are the constituencies that fall under the Chamba district.

Chamba, the land of Lord Shiva, is famous worldwide for its untouched natural beauty. Dalhousie, Khajjiar, Chamba city, Pangi and Bharmour are the major tourist destinations in the district. There are five lakes, five wildlife sanctuaries and countless temples. Dalhousie, Khajiar and Churah Valley are popular hill stations for the people. 



Lakshmi Narayan Temple, Brajeshwari Devi Temple, Chamunda Devi Temple, Sui Mata Temple, Bhuri Singh Museum, Bhalei Mata Temple, Chaurasi Temple, Champawati Temple, Banni Mata Temple, Akali Chandi Mahal, Chaugan, Church of Scotland, Kalatop are other travel attractions.

How to reach Chamba

The nearest airport to Chamba is Pathankot which is 120 km from here. Apart from this, Kangra Airport, (172 km), Amritsar Airport (220 km), and Chandigarh Airport (400 km) are at a distance. Pathankot, the nearest railway station to Chamba. Chamba is well connected by road to other Himachal resorts such as Shimla, Solan, Kangra, Dharamshala, and Pathankot. Private buses are also easily available in the district. If you want to visit Chamba by taxi then lots of options are available, regular taxies are available from cities like Chandigarh, Delhi, Shimla, Amritsar, Pathankot, etc. There are numerous taxi service providers in Chandigarh which are offering Chandigarh to Chamba taxi.
