Darjeeling district is the northernmost district of the Indian state of West Bengal in eastern India. It is situated in the foothills of the Himalayas. This district is famous for its enchanting scenery, hill stations, beautiful surroundings and tea gardens. 


The district headquarters is located in Darjeeling city. The name Darjeeling is derived from two Tibetan words, Dorje and Ling, which mean the land of thunderbolts.
