Sirmaur district is a district in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India. The district Sirmaur is situated on the Shivalik range of Himalayas. The district shares its borders with Uttarakhand, Shimla, Haryana and Solan.

Like other places in Himachal Pradesh, it also has beautiful landscape, climate and mythological temples which are the center of attraction for the tourists.



It is largely mountainous and rural, with 90% of the population living in villages. Nahan is the headquarters of the Sahar district. Sirmour was an independent kingdom in India, founded in about 1090 by Raja Rasalu of Jaisalmer. The total area of ​​the district is 2,825 km sq. The Giri River is the largest river in the district. The economy of the district is mainly based on agriculture, with potatoes, ginger, tomatoes, apples, mangoes and peaches cultivated here.

As of 2011 India census, Sirmour district had a population of 5,29,855. Sirmaur jile has a sex ratio of 915 females for every 1000 males, and a literacy rate of 79.98%.

In this district, there are five administrative sub divisions, 10 tehsils, four sub tehsils. Paonta Sahib, Nahan, Pachhad, Rajgarh, Renuka, Kamrau, Shillai, Rohat, Nohra and Dadahu are the tehsils of the district.

Places of interest:- Hubben Valley, Churdhar, Renuka Ji, Chandpur Dhar, Haripur Dhar, Bhureshwar Mahadev, Gurdwara Paonta Sahib, Shri Digambar Jain Temple, Shiv Ji Temple Saltevni, Kalisthan Temple, Jagannath Temple, Rani Tal Shiv Temple, Suketi Fossil Park Trilokpur temple is the center of major attraction of the district.

The nearest airport is at Chandigarh and Dehradun. The nearest railway stations are Ambala, Chandigarh, Yamunanagar and Kalka.

Nahan is well connected to Himachal and rest of India through National Highway 7 and National Highway 907A.
