Armenia is an ancient country at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. This small country is famous for its 3,500-year history, rich culture and incredible mountain scenery. Every year, more and more people visit Armenia to discover this interesting country, immerse themselves in centuries-old customs and traditions, learn about its colorful history, and admire its spectacular landscapes. 


Places to visit in Armenia 

Yerevan 

It is the largest city in Armenia, and the capital Yerevan is a great base for exploring Armenia. The city is home to the grand Republic Square, and a climb up the waterfall to see the city's memorial to the Soviet victory in World War II is a must. Yerevan is a  city with a rich history, and a visit to the Armenian Genocide Memorial is a must to learn about the nation's troubled past. 


Echmiadzin 

The city of Echmiadzin has located about 20 km from Yerevan. A visit to Armenia would not be complete without a visit to Etchmiadzin.Armenia is the first country in the world to adopt Christianity as the state religion and the Echmiadzin Cathedral was built to commemorate this. Built on the site of an ancient pagan temple, Etchmiadzin is the religious center of all Armenians. Perhaps the easiest way to visit Etchmiadzin is to join a tour from Yerevan 


Tatev Monastery 

A visit to Tatev is one of the most popular attractions of Armenia among travelers. The monastery is a majestic medieval building (9th century AD) situated on the edge of a deep gorge and surrounded by an exceptional mountain landscape.


Lake Sevan 

Lake Sevan is also considered to be one of the highest lakes in the world and sometimes it seems as if the blue water is touching the sky. Its beauty has earned the lake the nickname "Pearl of Armenian Nature". On the shore of the lake, you can have a barbecue, sail on a yacht or catamaran, or just relax and admire the incredible scenery. 


Garni 

The Garni is a pleasant place to spend time, although most people visit mainly to see the magnificent 1st-century AD temple and fascinating monastery. Perched on a cliff overlooking hills and mountains, the Temple of Garni features beautiful Hellenic architecture.


Khor Virap Monastery 

A popular place of pilgrimage, the monastery is famous across the country for its stunning scenery, with Turkey's Mount Ararat looming dramatically in the distance. The exquisite chapel was built in AD 642 and has been successively added to and expanded over the centuries. 


Goris 

Goris is a pleasant and peaceful town where you can spend a few days. The surrounding mountains and countryside are home to many attractive hiking trails and trails near the Tatev Monastery and the fascinating ancient cave village of Khndzoresk. 


Dilijan National Park 

Dilijan National Park in the north-east of the country will delight lovers of nature and outdoor activities. The peaceful hills and mountain ranges that make up most of the national park area are covered with endless forests, with glistening streams and babbling brooks in the undergrowth. 


Karahunj 

It is located on a plateau at an altitude of 1770 m and consists of more than 200 stones, each of which has holes with a diameter of 5 cm. This structure remains an enigma to scientists, who have different versions of its origin and use: The most widely held version is that the structure dates back to the 6th century BC. and served as an observatory for observing the stars. 


Shikahogh State Reserve 

Shikahogh State Reserve is so pristine that much of it remains unexplored to this day. The forest is believed to be home to animals such as leopards, bears, wild goats and vipers, and Shikahogh State Reserve also has around 1,100 plant species, although its wildlife has yet to be fully explored.
