None of India's matches in Asia Cup 2023 will be held in Pakistan, final will be played in Sri Lanka

The matches of the Asia Cup Cricket Tournament 2023 will be played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. There will be only 4 matches of the tournament in Pakistan. The remaining 9 matches will be held in Sri Lanka. Four matches of the initial group stage will be held in Pakistan. These include Pakistan Vs Nepal matches from one group and Afghanistan Vs Bangladesh, Afghanistan Vs Sri Lanka and Bangladesh Vs Sri Lanka matches from the other group. That means India will not have a single match in Pakistan. The final will also be played in Sri Lanka.

The information about which matches of this tournament, which is going to be held between August 31 and September 17, will be held in which city, has not been revealed yet.

What matches will be held in Sri Lanka?

India Vs Pakistan and India Vs Nepal matches will be played from the group stage in Sri Lanka. After this, the top-2 ranked teams from both groups will reach the Super-4. All the Super-4 matches and the final will also be played in Sri Lanka.

Host of controversies

The hosting of the current season of the Asia Cup has been mired in controversies. The responsibility of organizing it was given to Pakistan, but ACC President and BCCI Secretary Jai Shah refused to send the Indian team to Pakistan in October last year. In such a situation a dispute arose.

Know, why the controversy regarding Asia Cup?

Pakistan was given the hosting of the Asia Cup to be held in 2023 in the International Cricket Council (ICC) calendar. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had made it clear as soon as the calendar was released that the team would not go to Pakistan to play India. The BCCI had asked for the Asia Cup to be held at a neutral venue, but the Pakistan Cricket Board did not agree.

However, Pakistan had also proposed to conduct the tournament on a hybrid model. According to the hybrid model, India's matches will be held in a country other than Pakistan. The remaining matches of the tournament will be held in Pakistan. If India reaches the final, the final will also be outside Pakistan.
