Barnala District

Barnala District is a district of Punjab state with its administrative headquarters located in Barnala city. It is believed that the name of this place is derived from the word Barnala which means land of frequent storms. The district was established on November 19, 2006.


The district is spread over a geographical area of ​​1,482 square kilometers and is surrounded by Ludhiana, Moga, Mansa, Sangrur and Bathinda districts. The district is divided into 2 sub-divisions namely Barnala and Tapa. Besides, it includes 5 towns and 127 villages. Barnala, Tapa and Mahal are Tehsils of Kalan District.


Places to Visit in Barnala

There are many attractions in the district which attract many travelers from different parts of the country and the world. There are two religious places in Barnala district, Nanaksar Gurdwara and Geeta Bhawan are of special importance. Pilgrims from far and wide come to these religious places to offer prayers. Gurudwara Nanaksar Thath is one of the popular places in Barnala. It is located on Court Chowk to ITI Road, Nanaksar Road. Sekha village located in the district is considered an ideal place for nature lovers.

Barnala is a wonderful city to visit in the state of Punjab. There are no regular flights to Barnala from other major cities of the country. The nearest airport is Chandigarh Airport. Barnala is well connected to otlher major cities of the country through regular trains.
