How to Get Pan Card for Free in Just 1 Hour

Today PAN card has become a mandatory document. Be it opening a bank account, filing income tax or taking advantage of a government scheme, PAN card is needed everywhere. But do you know that now you can make PAN card online at home without going to any agent or office? In this post you will be told how to create E-PAN card and download and use it immediately.

What is Instant E-PAN Card?

Instant e-PAN Card is an online facility launched by the Income Tax Department. Through this facility any Indian citizen, whose Aadhaar card is active and linked to mobile number, can get PAN card for free only through OTP verification.The biggest feature of this card is that it does not require a physical document and it is made in 10-15 minutes.

If you need a PAN card immediately, then by following these easy steps you can create an instant E-PAN in a few minutes, that too for free:


1. First visit the official website of Income tax www.incometax.gov.in on your mobile or computer. Scroll down the website and click on “Instant E-PAN” option.





2. Click on “Get New e-PAN” button.

3. After this enter your Aadhaar number and tick the “I Agree” checkbox.

4. Click on “Continue”.

Do OTP Verification

An OTP will be sent to the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar.

1. Enter that OTP and click on “Continue” again.

All your information like name, date of birth, photo etc. is automatically filled from your Aadhaar.

Note :- Note that e-PAN card only uses Aadhaar photo and signature is not included.


Important things you should know:-

  • This e-PAN is completely free, there is no charge.
  • The PAN number issued in it is valid and can be used everywhere.
  • This PAN card can be downloaded in PDF form which can be used digitally anywhere.

Linking Email ID:

  • After Aadhaar verification you will get an option to link email.
  • Enter your email id and click on “Send OTP”.
  • Enter the OTP and verify the email.

How to download pan card?

  1. Again visit the website and click on “Check Status/Download PAN” option.
  2. Enter Aadhaar number and verify OTP.

Open PAN card with password

  • When you download PAN card in PDF format, password is required to open it.
  • Password is your date of birth – Format: DDMMYYYY (Example: 16-07-1996 password will be 16071996).
  • As soon as you enter the correct password, your PAN card will be opened.
  • It will show PAN number and photograph but no signature.

What to do if signature pan is required?

If you need PAN card with signature for any work in future, then you can fill PAN Correction Form later.

  • You can upload new photo and signature.
  • Email, mobile number, address etc. can also be updated.
  • After this process a physical PAN card is also sent to you.
