Rewari district is one of the 22 districts of the Indian state of Haryana. It was separated from Gurgaon district on 1 November 1989 by the Haryana government. It is also part of the National Capital Region. The district headquarters is situated in the city of Rewari, also the district's largest city. Like everywhere else, Rewadi has an interesting story about its name.  Baba Ramswaroop Daas Talab The district natives believe that in the Mahabharata period, there was a king named Revat who had a daughter named Revati. Her father affectionately called her Rewa. Then he established a place and named it "Rewa Wadi" after his daughter. Since Rewa was married to Lord Krishna's elder brother Balarama, the king gave his daughter the place "Rewa-wadi" as a gift. With time, the name of Rewa-Wadi became Rewadi.
