Mandi  is a city in the Indian state of  Himachal Pradesh . It was formerly known as Mandava Nagar. Mandi is famous as a tourist destination. Mandi is known as “Varanasi of Hills” or “Himachal’s Kashi”.    The Mandi still contains notable examples of old palaces and ‘colonial architecture’. Mandi, the historic city of Himachal Pradesh, situated on the banks of river Beas, has also been the center of commercial activities for a long time.
