Karbi Anglong

Karbi Anglong district is a district in the state of Assam with its headquarter located in Diphu town. The name of the district is derived from two words namely Karbi and Anglong. Karbi is a very famous tribe which is commonly found in most of the areas of Assam state.  Deopani Durga temple On the other hand, Anglong is a Karbi word which means hills. Both the words Karbi Anglong together mean the hills of the Karbi people. Karbi Anglong came into existence as a completely separate district on the map of Assam on 14th October 1976. Langkovku waterfall Area Spread over 10,434 sq km, the district is bordered by Golaghat, Morigaon, Nagaon districts as well as Meghalaya and Nagaland. The district is divided into 3 sub-divisions namely Diphu, Bokajan and Hamren. Apart from this, the district consists of 7 towns and 2,921 villages.
