Gurdaspur is a district in the state of Punjab, with its administrative headquarters located in the city of Gurdaspur. The district derives its name from its headquarters city, Gurdaspur. In the early 17th century, this place—then known as Gurdaspur—was founded by Guria Ji; consequently, the city was named Gurdaspur in his honor.
