Kamrup Assam
Kamrup is a district in the Indian state of Assam. The present Kamrup district, headquartered at Amingaon, is an exemplary and model civic district. It came into existence on 31 March 2003 with great promise and a strong desire to move forward. Before the year 1980, the present-day Barpeta and Nalbari districts were included in the undivided Kamrup. The area of the district is spread over 3,105 km². It shares its boundaries with the state of Meghalaya as well as Udalguri, Baska, Darrang, Kamrup Metropolitan, Goalpara and Nalbari districts. The district is divided into 2 sub-divisions namely Guwahati and Rangia. Further, there are 8 revenue circles under Guwahati sub-division and 3 revenue circles under Rangia sub-division. The district is divided into 12 sub-districts, 16 towns and 1,068 villages. The population of the district is 15,17,542 as per the 2011 census.
