Jalpaiguri district is a district in the state of West Bengal, India. Jalpaiguri district was established in 1869 during the British Raj. The district headquarter is located at Jalpaiguri town, which is also the divisional headquarters of North Bengal. Jalpaiguri district is known as one of the oldest famous districts of the Union of India.  Buxa Fort The district is also known for its simplicity, natural beauty. The name Jalpaiguri comes from the word "Jalpai" which means "olive" which are found in the city and nearby areas. The word "Gudi" means "place". Area The district is spread over an area of ​​3,386 km2. Jalpaiguri district previously had three subdivisions - Jalpaiguri Sadar subdivision, Mal subdivision and Alipurduar subdivision. Jalpaiguri district shares international borders with Bhutan and Bangladesh along with Darjeeling, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts.
