  Bankura district is an administrative district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is a part of Medinipur division, which is one of the five administrative divisions of West Bengal. The headquarters of the district is located in the city of Bankura. The district is also described as a "connecting link" between the plains of Bengal in the east and the Chota Nagpur Plateau in the west.
