Faridabad District

Faridabad district is one of the 22 districts of the Indian state of Haryana. The headquarters of the district is located in Faridabad city. The district is named after its headquarters, Faridabad city. Faridabad was founded in 1607 AD by Jahangir's treasurer Sheikh Farid with the aim of protecting the highway passing through the city. District Faridabad came on the map of Haryana on 15 August 1979 as the 12th district of the state. The new district was carved out of the erstwhile Gurgaon district. Faridabad is the most populous city in the Indian state of Haryana and is a part of the Delhi National Capital Region. Faridabad district is located in the southern part of Haryana state.  Selorsar Lake Area The area of the district is spread over 741 square kilometers.
