Bandhavgarh National Park - The Land of Tigers
Bandhavgarh Sanctuary is one of the most famous national parks of Madhya Pradesh. It is located in the Umaria district of Madhya Pradesh. It was declared a national park in 1968. The park is famous for its tigers. The famous white leopard was also discovered here.
Most of the Bandhavgarh Sanctuary is in the hill, which is part of the grand fort of Bandhavgarh. Earlier the forest spread around Bandhavgarh was maintained as a hunting ground of the Maharaja of Rewa. In 1993, the park was brought under the Tiger Project. The tigers can easily be seen in the middle of the roads in the Sanctuary.

Fort
Bandhavgarh fort was built on the hill of Bandhavgarh and it is more than 2 thousand years old. Which was built by the Maharajas of Rewa. This fort is built at an altitude of 800 meters, can give a panoramic view of the city and the forest. This fort has a legend of its own. The fort is said to have been built by monkeys who built Sethusamudram. Rama, Lakshmana and Hanuman rested here on their return from Lanka.
Forest
The forest area of Bandhavgarh is full of flora and fauna species. The forest has all kinds of wildlife and trees including Nilgai and Chinkara.
Wildlife
There are 22 species of animals and 250 species of birds found in this national park. This wildlife can be seen riding on an elephant or sitting in a vehicle.
Best time to visit
The best time to visit Bandhavgarh National Park is between October to June. If you are fond of watching birds, then the months of November to March are the best. Between February and April, many of the trees here are covered with special red-colored flowers.
How to reach
The nearest airports to Bandhavgarh are Jabalpur and Khajuraho. By Rail, Bandhavgarh is connected to Jabalpur, Katni and Satna. It is about 237 km from Khajuraho and 195 km from Jabalpur.
