Zakir Hussain Rose Garden (Chandigarh) is a botanical garden located in Sector 16, Chandigarh city, which is spread over 30 acres. Although there are many flower varieties, trees, and plants in this garden, the main center of attraction is the rose plant here, there are more than 50,000 rose plants and the biggest thing is the species around 1600 different spices of roses are in this garden.
You can see so many different species of roses in one place, which probably will not happen anywhere in the world.
It is named after the former President of India, Dr. Zakir Hussain, and is constructed in 1967 under the supervision of Dr. MS. Randhawa, who was the first Chief Commissioner of Chandigarh. The garden has not only roses but also various medicinal plants. Here the rose plants have been planted so beautifully that they will fascinate anyone.
It attracts people from every section, especially for children, many swings and musical fountains have also installed.
It is a very favorite place for joggers. Many events are organized in this garden every year, the most prominent of which is the Rose Festival which is held every year in the month of February or March. Various types of competitions are also organized in this festival, such as photography, gardening, landscaping, bonsai, and Rose Prince and Princess, etc.
Zakir Hussain Rose Garden Opening Timing
The garden is open to the public daily from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm. There is no entry fee, although you will have to pay for parking the car.
There are also some guidelines for the garden such as
- Pets are not allowed here.
- Spreading litter here is not allowed.
- Flowers are forbidden to be plucked. Fines can also be incurred if caught.
