Amarkantak
Amarkantak of Madhya Pradesh has always been a favorite destination for tourists and pilgrims. It is at this place 1065 meters above sea level that the Vindhya and Satpura Hills of central India meet. The holy Narmada and Son rivers originate from Amarkantak, a pilgrimage site for Hindus. The Narmada river flows from here to the west while the Son river flows in the east direction, which makes the mind happy. Amarkantak has got a special boon from the point of view of the beauty of nature. The beautiful waterfalls, holy ponds, high hills, and serene environment here mesmerize the tourists so much that they cannot live without coming again.
Amarkantak, popularly known as Amrakoot, has been associated with many traditions and legends. It is believed that Amarkantak is a part of the mountain, which is one of the Saptakul Parvatas mentioned in the Puranas. There are many such ancient temples and idols which are related to Mahabharata. It is said that Narmada, the daughter of Lord Shiva, flows from here in the form of a life-giving river. There are many temples dedicated to Mata Narmada, which are considered to be the idols of Durga.
Where to visit
Kapildhara, located just a short distance from Amarkantak, is related to the great saint, the wise Kapil Muni. It is said in the scriptures that Kapil Muni lived here. It is said that Kapil Muni composed the Sankhya philosophy at this place. Kapileswara temple is also built near Kapiladhara where a huge crowd of devotees gathers. There are many such caves around Kapiladhara where sadhus and saints can be seen in a meditative posture.
Dense forests, mountains, beautiful landscapes, and beautiful views of nature can be seen from here. Kapiladhara Falls falling from a height of about 100 feet is popular all over the country. In other places, you can enjoy beautiful places like Dhuni Pani, Dudhdhara, Sonmuda, Mai Ki Bagiya, and Kabir Chabutra.
How to reach Amarkantak
The nearest airport to Amarkantak is Jabalpur at a distance of 228 km. Apart from this, there is Raipur airport at a distance of 230 km. Pendra railway station is at a distance of 42 km from where you can reach Amarkantak by road. Jabalpur is well connected by road to Bilaspur, Annupur, and Pendra Road and from where regular buses run to Amarkantak.
