Ambala

Ambala district is one of the 22 districts of Haryana state, India and Ambala city is the administrative headquarters of the district. District Ambala is situated on the north-eastern edge of Haryana and shares the borders with Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. District Ambala is a part of Ambala Division. Ambala City is divided into two parts i.e. Ambala Cantonment and Ambala City: for this reason it is also known as "Twin City". Ambala is located at 200 km (124 mi) north of India's capital New Delhi, and has been selected as one of the National Capital Region's centers to be developed as an alternative center of growth to Delhi.

Area of Ambala District

The area of ​​the district is spread over 1,569 km. Administration of the district comes under Panchkula, Yamuna Nagar, Kurukshetra and law and order comes under Ambala Police Range Ambala, Kurukshetra, Yamuna Nagar. The district administration has four sub-divisions namely Ambala City, Ambala Cantt, Barara and Narayangarh. The district is further divided into 4 Community Development Blocks and 7 Revenue Tehsils. Economy of Ambala District

Being situated in the Indo-Gangetic plain, the land is generally fertile and conducive to agriculture. However, the primary sector contributes very little to the economy of the district as compared to the economy of Haryana. Small scale industries form a major part of the industrial scenario in the district. It is one of the largest producers of scientific and surgical instruments in the country and is also home to a large number of scientific instrument manufacturers.

National Highway NH 44 formerly known as GT Road passes through Ambala and connects it to the national capital Delhi, Panipat, Ludhiana and Amritsar. NH 152 connects it to the state capital Chandigarh, Kaithal. Ambala is a divisional headquarters of the Northern Railway zone and is an important railway junction. Ambala Cantt station is one of the top 100 booking stations in India. Ambala Cantt Railway Station is the main station of the city and is well connected to major cities of India. The nearest airport is Chandigarh International Airport which is at a distance of 46 km from Ambala city.
