Panchkula

Panchkula is one of the planned cities of India and the satellite city of Chandigarh. Panchkula, one of the five census towns of Panchkula district, borders Mohali city in Punjab. The esteemed headquarters of the Indian Army, Chandimandir Cantonment is located in Panchkula itself. Panchkula derives its name from five irrigation canals which are locally called Kula. These canals draw water from Ghaggar river which is divided into surrounding areas like Nada Sahib and Manasa Devi. These canals are very useful for the locals and are maintained by the villagers.

 

It is bordered by Himachal Pradesh to the east and north, Punjab to the west and Chandigarh to the south. Urban Estate Panchkula is located west of Chandigarh. The newly built town is classified into residential and industrial sectors, parks and other recreational sites, various government and semi-government institutions. Panchkula is located west of the Ghaggar river which offers an enchanting view of the place along the Shivalik hills.

 

Tau Devilal Sports Complex and a Golf Cars have been developed for entertainment. This sports complex is famous for ICL tournaments. Pinjore is an industrial area with HMT factory. Bharat Electronics Limited is an important industry in the region and employs a large number of locals.

Tourist places in and around Panchkula

Located in the ancient site, Morni Hill is the only hill station in Panchkula. This is the highest point of Haryana. It is a part of Shivalik Hills. Pinjore Garden is famous for its amazing Mughal Gardens. It is also known as Yadavendra Garden. Kasauli in Himachal Pradesh is only 30 minutes from Panchkula.

 

Natural spring is present at the Chaki turn. The cable car ride by Timber Trail offers panoramic views of Panchkula and Chandigarh. It takes tourists to the top of the hill where a resort is located. There are many recreational activities.

Gurudwara Nada Sahib is located on the banks of the river Ghaggar. Panchkula has a subtropical continental climate. Summers are hot, winters are cold and monsoon rains are heavy. The best time to visit Panchkula is October and November.
