Solan
Solan, located in Himachal Pradesh is a very beautiful place that attracts a lot of tourists. It is also known as the Mushroom City of India because of the large-scale mushroom cultivation here. It is situated at an altitude of 1467 meters above sea level. It is known for its beautiful scenery, dense forests and high mountains.

Main Attraction
Situated at an altitude of 1986 meters, the Matiul peak is located to the east of the city and can be easily seen from here. Karol Peak which is located north of the city is the highest peak in the region. Solan is the base for walks of other hill stations like Kandaghat, Kasauli, Chail and Dagshai.

There is a cave near the top of Mount Karol which according to folklore is the cave where the Pandavas of the Indian epic Mahabharata stayed during their exile.
Major tourist attractions of Solan include the Yungdarung Tibetan Monastery, Sholoni Devi Temple, Gorkha Fort and Jatoli Shiva Temple.
Chail
Chail is also one of the very famous places in Himachal Pradesh. The Chail Palace is famous for its architecture. Chail is associated with Solan as well as Shimla district headquarters. It is 49 km from Shimla and 38 km from Solan. There are many places to visit in Chail like Palace Chail, Cricket Ground, Kali Dun and Hanuman Temple.

This is a small hill station. Places to visit in Kasauli are Christ Church, Monkey point, Lawrence School, Baba Balak Nath Temple, Baptist Church and Shirdi Sai Baba Temple.

Dagshai Cantonment is situated on the Kalka-Shimla Highway. Dagshai Cantonment was established in 1847 by the Maharaja of Patiala.
Jatoli Temple
The Shiva temple of Jotoli is a very famous temple. This temple is the oldest and religious temple in Solan district. It is also the largest temple of Lord Shiva in Asia.
