Chail is a very beautiful hill station in the Indian State of Himachal Pradesh. It is located 44 km from the state capital Shimla. It is known for its natural beauty. Solan District Information Solan district is one of the twelve districts of Himachal Pradesh state of India. Solan city is the district headquarters. Total area of the district is 1936 km2. The district came into existence on 1 September 1972. A new district was formed by merging Solan and Arki tehsils. The name of the district and the name of its headquarters comes from Mata Shoolini Devi.  It is said that she saved Solan from destruction. The district has five assembly constituencies: Arki, Nalagarh, Doon, Solan and Kasauli. All these are part of Shimla Lok Sabha constituency .
