Jhajjar
Jhajjar district is one of the 22 districts of Haryana state in northern India. Historically, Jhajjar is an ancient city. It is believed that the place got its name from the name of its founder i.e. Chhajju, which changed to Jhajjar with the passage of time. According to some other stories, the name of this area is derived from the natural fountain named Jharnagar. Jhajjar emerged as a separate district in the Haryana state map on July 15, 1997, with its headquarters located at Jhajjar, located at a distance of 285 kilometers from the state capital Chandigarh. Bahadurgarh is the main city of the district and state.

Area
Geographically, the total area of the district is spread over 1,834 square km. Based on this size it is ranked 10th in the state and 511th in India. The district is divided into 4 sub-districts, 5 towns and 260 villages. Jhajjar, Matanhail, Bahadurgarh, Badli and Beri are the tehsils of the district.
Population
As of 2011 census, Jhajjar district had a population of 958,405. Jhajjar district has a sex ratio of 782 females for every 1000 males. Hindi is its official language of the district.
Economy
Economically, the district is dependent on its industries. Many small, medium and large scale industries are established here. The multi-product special economic zone is being set up in the district by a joint venture of Reliance Ventures and Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (HSIIDC). There is Indira Gandhi Super Thermal Power Project in the district. Mahatma Gandhi Super Thermal Power Project is also located here.

Education
The district provides many platforms for higher education. RED School, GD Goenka Public School, DH Lawrence Senior Secondary School, Government Senior Secondary School, Maharaja Agrasen P.G. College, Government Post Graduate Nehru College, Ganga Institute of Technology and Management are some of the educational institutions that are known for providing quality education.

Attraction
There are many famous historical and religious places to visit in the district. Such as Bua Wala Pond, group of tombs and mosques, Gurukul Jhajjar Museum, ancient temple of Pandava Bhimeshwari Devi. Pratapgarh Farm of the district is a newly constructed tourist destination. Which is very much liked by the tourists. A group of tombs and mosques are situated around 'Bua Ka Talab'. Gurukul Jhajjar is the largest archaeological museum of Haryana. It houses many ancient coins and statues from across the country. Bhima Devi Temple Complex is also known as Khajuraho of North India. It was constructed between 8th to 11th century AD.

The nearest airport to the district is Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, at a distance of 54 km from Jhajjar. Regular buses run to Jhajjar from other major cities of the country.
Jhajjar Bus Station is the main bus station of the district. Jhajjar Railway Station is the main railway station of the district. You can easily get regular trains to Jhajjar from other major cities of the country.
